Mehstodon

Didn't really love this cd, and I am a hard rock fan. Try Five Finger Death Punch for some good new hard rock. Their 2009 released cd War Is the answer is a must to check out. Far from home, hard to see, and bad company are great songs! Enjoy!

Gallows

Gallows - Grey Britain. One mighty fine album that boldly screams what everyone was really thinking with such epic brilliance! One of my favourite albums of all time, definately the best rock album of 2009

TCV should be number 1

Some of the albums I agree with but Them Crooked Vultures is way more original and pushing the boundaries of rock as we know it. Should be Number one!!

Live Vultures

My son and I were fortunate to see and hear TCV perform live at the Sound Academy in Toronto. What a treat! TCV was fantastic live and we love the album as well. Keep on rockin' in the free world and doo doodle ooh doo....

Good year for rock

A lot of good stuff out this year. Hard to pick favorites. I agree with most of the additions, but I'll add a few: Baby Woodrose-Baby Woodrose Tinted Windows-Tinted Windows Lucero-1372 Overland Park Teagan & Sara-Sainthood Noisettes-Wild Young Hearts

mmm...

I agree it should have included Mastodon's Crack the Skye (and I don't like metal either). Also, Beardfish's Destined Solitaire... and the list goes on.

TCV TDW and FF

In my opinion Them Crooked Vultures should have had the top spot, The Dead Weather should have been in the top 5, and Franz Ferdinand's Tonight should have been in the top 5 as well !

Amazing music

There is plenty to be excited about in the world of rock for 2009. I would have included Mastodon's "Crack the skye", Porcupine Tree's "The Incident", Muse's "The Resistence", Karnivool's "Sound Awake", The Mars Volta's "Octahedron", etc, etc. All very proggy surely, but brilliant nonetheless :)

Rock of 2009

I have quite enjoyed Journal for Plague Lovers by Manic Street Preachers. Backspacer has been a pleasant surprise out of Pearl Jam. The only problem Them Crooked Vultures has is that everyone had one preconceived notion about what it "should" sound like before they heard it, but their record is really good. Honourable mention to Primary Colours by the Horrors - definitely not the best, but an interesting noisy rock record.

Them Crooked Vultures

Them Crooked Vulture's self-titled debut album is really killer -- one of the best rock albums I've heard in a while.
—Guest Al

No Chickenfoot?

I thought their album was good quintessential classic rock.
