On this week's Billboard Rock Songs chart, we say adios to "Another Way to Die," the lead single from Disturbed's Asylum. That makes room for one debut in the Top 10, a song that covers four of the most important topics for a lot of people.
10. Godsmack - "Love-Hate-Sex-Pain"
Godsmack return with the follow-up single to "Cryin' Like a Bitch." "Love-Hate-Sex-Pain" is a more melodic, less aggro rock song, and it debuts this week at No. 10
9. Jimmy Eat World - "My Best Theory"
Jimmy Eat World rise a notch to No. 9 this week with "My Best Theory." The Arizona quartet start a European tour in November.
8. The Dirty Heads Featuring Rome - "Lay Me Down"
"Lay Me Down" enjoys the honor of being the song in the Top 10 with the greatest longevity, entering the chart 35 weeks ago. But this Dirty Heads track tumbles down two more spots this week.
7. Avenged Sevenfold - "Nightmare"
The title track off Avenged Sevenfold's most recent album looked to be on its way out, but this week "Nightmare" temporarily halts its slow slide down the chart, bouncing up a notch to No. 7.
6. Papa Roach - "Kick in the Teeth"
This week's high climber is Papa Roach, who vault up three notches with "Kick in the Teeth." The song comes from their new record, Time for Annihilation: On the Record and On the Road, which (as you might have guessed from the title) is a combination of live songs and new studio recordings.
5. Mumford & Sons - "Little Lion Man"
After two weeks at No. 4, "Little Lion Man" stumbles a bit, dropping down one spot. But cheer up, you indie folk-rockers: You did just receive four nominations for this year's U.K. Festival Awards.
4. The Black Keys - "Tighten Up"
One of my favorite rock songs of 2010, "Tighten Up" shows no signs of slowing down, moving up one more notch this week. But the Black Keys may run into a bit of a logjam if they try to climb any higher.
3. Kings of Leon - "Radioactive"
Kings of Leon hold steady at No. 3 for a second week with "Radioactive." With Come Around Sundown about to drop, will this lead single be able to force its way to No. 1?
2. Neon Trees - "Animal"
Always a bridesmaid, never a bride: For a third straight week, Neon Trees are at No. 2 with "Animal." But that may change soon, and not for the better: The Utah group's breakthrough single failed to gain significantly in sales or airplay this week, suggesting that this may be as high as they get on our chart.
1. Stone Sour - "Say You'll Haunt Me"
Stone Sour refuse to give up their perch at the top. The lead single off Audio Secrecy lodges a fourth straight week at No. 1, and it looks like their main competition next week will be a certain Tennessee quartet's "Radioactive" hit.
