On this week's Billboard Rock Songs chart, two long-running tracks finally vacate the Top 10: Rise Against's "Savior" and Phoenix's "Lisztomania." That means two new entries -- plus a couple other singles are making a serious push up the charts for No. 1. But can anyone dethrone Stone Sour?
10. Jimmy Eat World - "My Best Theory"
The pop-rock outfit Jimmy Eat World have just returned with their latest record, Invented, and this week the album's first single, "My Best Theory," breaks through the Top 10.
9. Papa Roach - "Kick in the Teeth"
This week's highest debut comes from Papa Roach, who are continuing to reinvent themselves from a rap-rock group into a more Buckcherry-like hard-rock outfit. "Kick in the Teeth" lands at No. 9.
8. Avenged Sevenfold - "Nightmare"
Avenged Sevenfold got as high as No. 3 with "Nightmare," but this week they're down three more notches to No. 8. They'll be touring overseas until they return to the States for a December 11 performance in Las Vegas.
7. Disturbed - "Another Way to Die"
6. The Dirty Heads Featuring Rome - "Lay Me Down"
Other songs zoom up and down the charts around them, but the Dirty Heads are just hangin' out and takin' it easy. That take-it-easy attitude is only fitting for their song "Lay Me Down," a laidback summer anthem that stays at No. 6 for a second straight week.
5. The Black Keys - "Tighten Up"
Perhaps boosted in part by its use in a Subaru commercial, "Tighten Up" keeps flying up the charts, up four big spots this week. The Black Keys will be playing the Austin City Limits Music Festival on October 8.
4. Mumford & Sons - "Little Lion Man"
Mumford & Sons hold down the No. 4 spot for the second week in a row with "Little Lion Man." The band are supposedly already beginning preliminary work on the follow-up to their breakthrough disc, Sigh No More.
3. Kings of Leon - "Radioactive"
Should there be any worry that Kings of Leon's success with Only by the Night was a fluke, listeners can't seem to get enough of "Radioactive," the first single off the upcoming Come Around Sundown. "Radioactive" bolts up from No. 7, putting the Tennessee quartet in the running for maybe snagging the top spot next week.
2. Neon Trees - "Animal"
Another strong week of sales and airplay for "Animal" couldn't lift Neon Trees to No. 1. For the second straight week, the Utah indie-rockers are sitting pretty at No. 2.
1. Stone Sour - "Say You'll Haunt Me"
Stone Sour make it a hat trick at No. 1, holding down the top spot for three straight weeks. I'm sure the Iowa quintet will also be thrilled to know that "Say You'll Haunt Me" made my list of 2010's Best Rock Songs.
