On this week's Billboard Rock Songs chart, two groups that have hit No. 1 with earlier singles -- Linkin Park and Three Days Grace -- gain some ground in the hopes of doing it again. But for now, an Ohio band are the kings of our countdown.
10. The Dirty Heads Featuring Rome - "Lay Me Down"
The Dirty Heads left the Top 10 a few weeks ago, but their summer smash "Lay Me Down" makes a comeback on the chart, returning to No. 10 this week.
9. Godsmack - "Love-Hate-Sex-Pain"
Godsmack are heading the wrong direction, dropping two spots this week with their single "Love-Hate-Sex-Pain." The hit off The Oracle got as high as No. 5 before beginning its descent.
8. My Darkest Days Featuring Zakk Wylde - "Porn Star Dancing"
For a second straight week, "Porn Star Dancing" stays stuck at No. 8. My Darkest Days' song "The World Belongs to Me" was recently featured on the Saw 3D soundtrack.
7. Three Days Grace - "World So Cold"
"World So Cold," the latest single off Life Starts Now, reaches No. 7, its highest placement on the Rock Songs chart. That's even more impressive considering that the Three Days Grace track had appeared to have run out of gas, getting as high as No. 8 before stalling out earlier.
6. Kings of Leon - "Radioactive"
Kings of Leon's "Radioactive" has become a permanent fixture in the middle of the Top 10, moving up or down a few notches each week. This week, the quartet fall one place to No. 6.
5. Linkin Park - "Waiting for the End"
"Waiting for the End" didn't explode onto the chart like Linkin Park's last single, "The Catalyst," did. But they both may end up in the same place: No. 1. This week, "Waiting for the End" moves up one more spot.
4. Mumford & Sons - "Little Lion Man"
"Little Lion Man" peaked at No. 3, but this week the Sigh No More single falls a notch to No. 4. The U.K. quartet have just returned home from a North American tour, their final roadwork for 2010.
3. Neon Trees - "Animal"
Neon Trees appeared on Conan on November 24, but that was just one highlight of the week. The Utah band's "Animal" continues its second summit of the Rock Songs chart, landing at No. 3. The song peaked as high as No. 2 before, and there's a chance it could get there again -- or maybe even hit the top spot.
2. Stone Sour - "Say You'll Haunt Me"
Stone Sour will be hitting the road in January to be part of the Nightmare After Christmas tour. On our chart, the band's single "Say You'll Haunt Me" enjoys a second week at No. 2 after lodging eight weeks at No. 1.
1. The Black Keys - "Tighten Up"
For the second straight week, the Black Keys have the No. 1 track on both the Rock and Alternative Songs chart. The duo will be doing a quick U.S. tour in December before hitting Australia and Europe in the new year.
