There's some activity going on in this week's Top 10 of the Billboard Rock Songs chart. We have two debuts, which means it's bon voyage for Seether and Chevelle. But beyond that, a lot of your favorite tracks stand pat on the chart. But could Gotye hold on to No. 1 for a fifth week in a row?
10. M83 - "Midnight City"
Last week, M83 danced onto our countdown at No. 10 with "Midnight City." This week, the track stays in the same spot. The single comes from the group's 2011 double-disc effort, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming.
9. Foster the People - "Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)"
Our first new entry is actually an old entry. "Don't Stop (Color on the Walls)" is the second hit single from Foster the People's Torches. On its previous brief run in the Top 10, it got as high as No. 8 before exiting. This week, it bounces back onto our chart at No. 9.
8. Foxy Shazam - "I Like It"
"I Like It" storms into the Top 10. The Foxy Shazam rocker, about a particularly shapely lady, is this week's highest debut at No. 8. It's the first single from the band's latest album, The Church of Rock and Roll.
7. Grouplove - "Tongue Tied"
After showing some spunk, Grouplove's "Tongue Tied" is in a bit of a holding pattern. The Never Trust a Happy Song single sits at No. 7 for a second straight week.
6. The Black Keys - "Lonely Boy"
"Lonely Boy" has been on our countdown for a little more than five months, hitting No. 1 for 14 weeks. Those heady days are over, but the El Camino track stays strong at No. 6 for a second consecutive week.
5. Foo Fighters - "These Days"
"These Days" never could hit No. 1 because it was held back by the Black Keys' "Lonely Boy." If it's any consolation for Foo Fighters, their song is now above "Lonely Boy" on the chart. The stirring Wasting Light single is at No. 5 for a fourth straight week.
4. The Black Keys - "Gold on the Ceiling"
The Black Keys performed at this year's Coachella under a large mirror ball. On the Billboard Rock Songs chart, their latest single, "Gold on the Ceiling," spins its wheels at No. 4 for a second week in a row.
3. Shinedown - "Bully"
2. Gotye (Featuring Kimbra) - "Somebody That I Used to Know"
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new No. 1. After four weeks at the top of the chart, "Somebody That I Used to Know" from Gotye falls a spot to No. 2. The Making Mirrors smash was certified platinum earlier this year, but the question now is whether Gotye will be able to spin any more singles from the album or if he'll just be a one-hit wonder in the States. Even if that happened, though, it was a heck of a hit.
1. fun. (Featuring Janelle Monae) - "We Are Young"
It's ironic: On the same week, that Gotye overtakes fun. on the Pop Chart, the New York band return the favor on our countdown. "We Are Young" had been at No. 2 for three weeks, but the indie-pop tune finally breaks through to No. 1.
