The final installment of the Billboard Rock Charts for 2012 is a fair indicator of what this year in popular rock was like. A lot of folk-rock, some indie-pop, and a little Green Day. See you in 2013.

Rock Songs Chart

1. The Lumineers - "Ho Hey" (Purchase/Download)
2. Phillip Phillips - "Home" (Purchase/Download)
3. fun. - "Some Nights" (Purchase/Download)
4. Ed Sheeran - "The A Team" (Purchase/Download)
5. Imagine Dragons - "It's Time" (Purchase/Download)

"Ho Hey" claims the top spot on the Rock Songs chart for a third straight week, holding off Phillip Phillips, whose "Home" is at No. 2 for a second week in a row. Cracking the Top Five is "It's Time" from Imagine Dragons, which lands at No. 5. And if you're looking for another act that may pop up soon, keep an eye out for Of Monsters and Men: Their hit "Little Talks" is currently at No. 7.

Rock Airplay Chart

1. Mumford & Sons - "I Will Wait" (Purchase/Download)
2. Muse - "Madness" (Purchase/Download)
3. The Black Keys - "Little Black Submarines" (Purchase/Download)
4. The Lumineers - "Ho Hey" (Purchase/Download)
5. Imagine Dragons - "It's Time" (Purchase/Download)

"It's Time" also cracks the Top Five of this week's Rock Airplay chart, where we have a new No. 1. That would be Mumford and Sons' "I Will Wait." Our previous No. 1, Muse's "Madness," drops to No. 2.

Rock Albums Chart

1. Phillip Phillips - The World From the Side of the Moon (Purchase/Download)
2. Mumford & Sons - Babel (Purchase/Download)
3. Green Day - Tre! (Purchase/Download)
4. Led Zeppelin - Celebration Day (Purchase/Download)
5. Kid Rock - Rebel Soul (Purchase/Download)

For a third straight week, the top spot on the Rock Albums chart goes to The World From the Side of the Moon. Our big debut, however, is from Green Day. Tre!, the final album in their trilogy of 2012 records, hits No. 3. However, Tre! is the first of the three records not to crack the Top 10 of the Billboard album chart.

Alternative Songs Chart

1. Muse - "Madness" (Purchase/Download)
2. Mumford & Sons - "I Will Wait" (Purchase/Download)
3. The Black Keys - "Little Black Submarines" (Purchase/Download)
4. The Lumineers - "Ho Hey" (Purchase/Download)
5. Atlas Genius - "Trojans" (Purchase/Download)

For 10 weeks now, Muse's "Madness" had been the big dog on the Alternative Songs chart. (Fine by me: It's one of 2012's best rock songs.) The rest of the Top Five stays exactly the same. Interestingly enough, though, a different Imagine Dragons track is threatening to butt in: "Radioactive" rises two spots to No. 6.

Alternative Albums Chart

1. Mumford & Sons - Babel (Purchase/Download)
2. Green Day - Tre! (Purchase/Download)
3. The Lumineers - The Lumineers (Purchase/Download)
4. fun. - Some Nights (Purchase/Download)
5. Imagine Dragons - Night Visions (Purchase/Download)

Tre! lands at No. 2 on its first week of the Alternative Albums chart, unable to dislodge Babel from the No. 1 spot it's now held for four weeks in a row. The only other new entry is, you guessed it, Imagine Dragons, who sit pretty at No. 5 with Night Visions, the Las Vegas band's full-length debut.

Hard Rock Albums Chart

1. Led Zeppelin - Celebration Day (Purchase/Download)
2. Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Dreams of Fireflies (On a Christmas Night) (Purchase/Download)
3. Aerosmith - Music From Another Dimension! (Purchase/Download)
4. Soundgarden - King Animal (Purchase/Download)
5. Deftones - Koi No Yokan (Purchase/Download)

Led Zeppelin have plenty of reason for Celebration. Their live disc Celebration Day rules the Hard Rock Albums chart for a fourth week. Reentering the Top Five is Koi No Yokan, which is definitely in the running for the year's best rock album.
