When a band loses its lead singer -- whether because of personnel issues or tragedy -- it's never easy for that group to pick up the pieces and more forward. (I've actually chronicled a number of groups who have had to replace their frontman.) This week's Billboard Rock Charts salute one such band who had to go through this obstacle recently: Killswitch Engage. This metal band recently lost singer Howard Jones and reunited with their original singer, Jesse Leach. Their new album is a hit, but it's not the only hard-rocking disc to do well this week.

Rock Songs Chart

1. Imagine Dragons - "Radioactive" (Purchase/Download)
2. The Lumineers - "Ho Hey" (Purchase/Download)
3. fun. - "Carry On" (Purchase/Download)
4. Mumford & Sons - "I Will Wait" (Purchase/Download)
5. Fall Out Boy - "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" (Purchase/Download)

Imagine Dragons top the Rock Songs chart for a third week. Meanwhile, the Lumineers and fun. are battling over No. 2: This week, "Ho Hey" knocks "Carry On" back to No. 3.

Rock Airplay Chart

1. Imagine Dragons - "Radioactive"
2. Of Monsters and Men - "Mountain Sound" (Purchase/Download)
3. Muse - "Madness" (Purchase/Download)
4. Atlas Genius - "Trojans" (Purchase/Download)
5. The Lumineers - "Stubborn Love" (Purchase/Download)

The Rock Airplay chart has become really predictable. For a month, the Top Five has remained unchanged. (In fact, this week the Top Seven are exactly in the same spot as they were last week.) That means that "Radioactive" is at No. 1 for a sixth week in a row. If you're looking for a little excitement, Thirty Seconds to Mars move up two spots to No. 8 with their new single "Up in the Air."

Rock Albums Chart

1. Killswitch Engage - Disarm the Descent (Purchase/Download)
2. Imagine Dragons - Night Visions (Purchase/Download)
3. Bring Me the Horizon - Sempiternal (Purchase/Download)
4. Mumford & Sons - Babel (Purchase/Download)
5. fun. - Some Nights (Purchase/Download)

Killswitch Engage's last album, their 2009 self-titled effort, was their final with Jones. Their new disc with Leach, Disarm the Descent, debuts atop the Rock Albums chart. Another metal band, Bring Me the Horizon, also crack the Top Five: Sempiternal places at No. 3.

Alternative Songs Chart

1. Imagine Dragons - "Radioactive"
2. The Lumineers - "Stubborn Love"
3. Of Monsters and Men - "Mountain Sound"
4. Silversun Pickups - "The Pit" (Purchase/Download)
5. Mumford & Sons - "Lover of the Light" (Purchase/Download)

For eight weeks now, "Radioactive" has been No. 1 on the Alternative Songs chart. (If you're keeping track, that means that, once again, Imagine Dragons are on top of all three singles charts that we track.) Cracking the Top Five, at No. 5, is "Lover of the Light," the latest hit from Mumford & Sons.

Alternative Albums Chart

1. Imagine Dragons - Night Visions
2. Bring Me the Horizon - Sempiternal
3. Mumford & Sons - Babel
4. fun. - Some Nights
5. Depeche Mode - Delta Machine (Purchase/Download)

Spurred on by "Radioactive," which has now gone platinum, Imagine Dragons are the champs of the Alternative Albums chart. "Radioactive" is actually the second platinum single off the record: Their previous hit, "It's Time," also earned that distinction. Meanwhile, last week's No. 1, Delta Machine, tumbles to No. 5.

Hard Rock Albums Chart

1. Killswitch Engage - Disarm the Descent
2. For Today - Prevailer (Purchase/Download)
3. Jimi Hendrix - People, Hell and Angels (Purchase/Download)
4. Sevendust - Black Out the Sun (Purchase/Download)
5. Rock of Ages (Purchase/Download)

Not surprisingly, Killswitch Engage are also No. 1 on the Hard Rock Albums chart. The weird thing is that Bring Me the Horizon are nowhere to be found in the Top Five. Wouldn't Sempiternal be considered hard rock? Regardless, Christian rockers For Today debut at No. 2 with their new EP Prevailer.
