Depeche Mode, Strokes Have Strong Debuts

A band from the '80s and a band that emulates bands from the '80s are our big hotshots on this week's Billboard Rock Charts. But on the singles side, a Las Vegas quartet still rule with a "Radioactive" hit.

For a second week, Imagine Dragons are at No. 1 on the Rock Songs chart. But "Radioactive" may have a short reign if fun. have anything to say about it. Their song "Carry On" leaps up three spots to No. 2. Also, Fall Out Boy crack the Top Five as "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" muscles into the No. 5 spot.

"Radioactive" sits atop the Rock Airplay chart for a fifth week in a row. For three weeks now, the Top Five has been exactly in this configuration. (No wonder people complain that the radio is so stagnant.)

Depeche Mode put out their first album in 1981. Thirty-two years later, they're back with their latest, Delta Machine, and it starts off at No. 1 on the Rock Albums chart. But that wasn't the only Machine embraced by rock fans: Comedown Machine, the new disc from the Strokes, debuts at No. 3. Our third and final debut in the Top Five comes from Sevendust. Their album Black Out the Sun enters at No. 5.

5. Muse - "Madness"

Muse's "Madness" had been No. 1 on the Alternative Songs chart for a record-setting 19 weeks. Imagine Dragons haven't quite matched that feat, but "Radioactive" has been on top for seven straight weeks. But look out: The Lumineers move up one place to No. 2 with "Stubborn Love."

Four of the Top Five albums on the Alternative Albums chart are exactly the same as on the Rock Albums chart. The only difference is Some Nights, which falls a spot this week to No. 5. (The album, by the way, has gone platinum.)

Georgia metal band Sevendust send their ninth studio album, Black Out the Sun, to No. 1 on the Hard Rock Albums chart. In other news, Senses Fail land at No. 3 with their fifth full-length effort, Renacer. And returning to the Top Five, at No. 5, is the soundtrack to last year's commercial bomb Rock of Ages. The movie may not have done well, but people sure love the tunes.
