Brandon Boyd Focusing on Solo Record While Incubus Take a Break

By March 13, 2013

Last summer, Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd indicated that the group would be taking a long break, although that didn't mean that he personally was going to refrain from making new music. "I have been tinkering around, potentially, with a second solo record," he said in August. "That's probably the most likely scenario."

This week, Boyd let it be known that a solo record is definitely on its way. Speaking with Billboard, he mentioned that he's looking for a home for the untitled album. Probably tongue in cheek -- at least we hope -- Boyd suggested that this new collection of songs will remind listeners "of sailors riding unicorns and unicorns farting beautiful gift making elves and things like that... rainbows, pots of gold... stuff like that."

Rainbows or not, this will be Boyd's first solo album since 2010's The Wild Trapeze, which was produced by Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann. This time around, Brendan O'Brien handled that job. But now that the album's done and ready for a potential summer release, Boyd has to figure out what to call it -- and who's going to put it out.
