Rock Review: How to Destroy Angels Invite You to 'Welcome Oblivion'

As much of a fan of Nine Inch Nails as I was back in their heyday, I've found Trent Reznor's more recent work to be just as rewarding. I'm not just talking about NIN's final album, The Slip, but his subsequent soundtrack work with collaborator Atticus Ross: He's been one of the few rock artists whose second act has been as intriguing and inventive as his first. A few years ago he formed a new band, How to Destroy Angels, and they've just put out their first full-length LP, Welcome Oblivion. Those who love Reznor's previous work will find elements of that sound here -- but also signs of the mature songwriter he's become.
