Alabama Shakes had a great 2012 -- in large part due to their debut, Boys & Girls -- and they're not planning on going away in 2013. They'll be touring in March, and they recently appeared on Saturday Night Live, where their performance of "Hold On" was especially good. (That's hardly a given considering how bad the sound can be for live sets on that show.) And they were also featured on the soundtrack to the Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook. Not bad for a band that most people hadn't heard of 12 months ago.
