3D rock films are suddenly all the rage. Metallica have one coming out in August, and Guns N' Roses are working on a 3D movie based on their recent stint of Las Vegas shows. Recently, the band gave a hint of what the film (which is expected to drop this year) might look like. But I'm not sure if the first footage will make fans less or more interested in seeing the final product.
Rolling Stone has embedded a YouTube performance of "Paradise City" that apparently will be part of the film. The song still sounds great, but, well, Axl Rose's vocals are rather weak and the overall presentation is incredibly bombastic. Sure, this is Vegas -- a place known for spectacle -- but the performance feels more glitzy than gritty. If done right, the 3D will certainly make all the explosions pop visually, but, I dunno, overall I found myself a little underwhelmed.
But maybe that's just me. Watch the clip and let me know what you think.
