Muse Tour Dates

By October 10, 2012

Follow me on:

Muse just released their new record, The 2nd Law, and starting early next year they'll be touring North America with dates that, unsurprisingly for them, plan to be rather epic.

The U.K. trio will kick off these shows with a January 21 appearance in San Diego. From there, they'll be bouncing back and forth between the U.S. and Canada, and their dates are slated to end April 26 in Quebec City. Because of the large gaps between shows, I have to wonder if extra dates will be added in case the initial shows sell out.

But what can you expect from these shows? Muse have always been grandiose, and NME tracked down a recent interview that frontman Matt Bellamy gave the Los Angeles alt-rock station KROQ where he compared this upcoming tour to Pink Floyd's shows for The Wall. "We've built this upside down pyramid structure which is full of video screens," he said. "Throughout the gig, it gradually comes down and consumes the band. So we end up eaten up by this pyramid thing, which is all very symbolic, of course. We blast out of it and escape. It's going to be a big experience." Perhaps recognizing how utterly pretentious his description sounded, Bellamy added, "This is our Stonehenge tour!" -- a reference to Spinal Tap's hilariously disastrous Stonehenge stage show. Hopefully nothing will go so awry at Muse's concerts, although they'd be in some infamous company if it does.
