It hasn't quite reached Chinese Democracy-like levels of procrastination yet, but fans of Queens of the Stone Age have been waiting for quite some time for the band to release their follow-up to 2007's Era Vulgaris. That waiting hasn't been helped by the fact that the band members have made promises about the new album's arrival that haven't come to fruition. Most recently, frontman Josh Homme said in May 2011 that "our record will be done by the end of the year." That didn't happen, but maybe we'll get new music next year?
NME noticed that Queens of the Stone Age took to their Facebook page yesterday to issue a one-word statement: "Recording." About nine hours later, the band followed up that update with a photo of a guitar in a studio with the note "Told ya." There aren't any other details at this point, but considering that in 2011 Homme seemed to feel that QOTSA had enough material for a record, the hope is that the band won't need that much more time to put together the album. But we've been fooled before by these guys.
