Where other bands from the '90s are getting back together and trying to capitalize on fans' nostalgia, Green Day are as popular as they've ever been. Thanks to the back-to-back success of American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, they're in the midst of a renaissance after showing some signs of creative fatigue around the turn of the century. It's been three years since 21st Century Breakdown, but on September 25 they'll return with Uno!, the first disc in a trilogy.
The band members recently took to their website to reveal Uno!'s track list. Dos! is expected on November 13, and Tré! will be arriving January 15, 2013. Speaking with Rolling Stone, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong insisted the new albums won't be rock operas in the vein of their last two albums but, rather, closer to power-pop. "If you listen to it," he said, "it feels grand. But it also feels like a garage band."
We'll get our first taste of that grandness when Uno!'s first single, the album-closing "Oh Love," arrives on July 16.
Uno! Track List:
- "Nuclear Family"
- "Stay the Night"
- "Carpe Diem"
- "Let Yourself Go"
- "Kill the DJ"
- "Fell for You"
- "Loss of Control"
- "Troublemaker"
- "Angel Blue"
- "Sweet 16"
