In a few different places, I've seen the Gaslight Anthem's forthcoming album, Handwritten, referred to as their "comeback." That seems a little odd, doesn't it? Their last disc, 2010's American Slang, may have been a little inconsistent, but it was hardly an embarrassment. Nonetheless, Handwritten will be coming our way on July 24.
The new album is their first produced by Brendan O'Brien, and it's a pairing that makes sense considering how O'Brien is known for working with anthem-ready artists like Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen.
And while we wait for Handwritten, the East Coast quartet will be launching a quick North American tour that starts July 5 in San Francisco. The band will be performing in New York City the day of their album's release.
