Eddie Vedder's latest string of solo dates was supposed to start up next week, but that won't be happening now. The Pearl Jam website made an announcement yesterday that the shows are being pushed back until the fall.
The band's manager, Kelly Curtis, explained that the postponement was due to nerve damage in Vedder's right arm. "After having worked aggressively with doctors and physical therapists for the last eight weeks to repair the damage, the intensity of the injury and time needed to heal has made it impossible to play the shows as scheduled," Curtis said in the statement. On the plus side, it appears he's going to make a full recovery.
The solo shows will begin in Las Vegas at the end of October, concluding in Florida in early December. It appears that Pearl Jam's European summer stint -- which will include some additional Vedder solo shows -- won't be affected by this injury.
What's not mentioned in this announcement is what might become of Pearl Jam's next record. There was talk last year of the group meeting up to work on new material, but there's not a large window left in 2012 for the Seattle quintet to focus on finishing the disc. It's starting to look like 2013 is far more likely.
