Jesse Hughes is the main man behind Eagles of Death Metal, the sexy, good-time garage rock outfit that also includes Josh Homme, the leader of Queens of the Stone Age. Eagles of Death Metal haven't put out an album since 2008's superb Heart On, but while Hughes is about to unveil a new disc it won't be under the EODM moniker. Instead he's releasing it as a solo artist, dubbing himself Boots Electric.
The solo album, called Honkey Kong, would appear to have the same playful, libidinous spirit as his Eagles of Death Metal material. However, the music will supposedly sound a little different, incorporating dance rhythms and drum machines. But if the first single, "Boots Electric Theme," is any indication, that tongue-in-cheek vibe is still very much in effect. We'll find out soon enough: Honkey Kong drops September 20.
