When Oasis split last summer, lead singer Liam Gallagher responded by recruiting bandmates Gem Archer and Andy Bell to form a new band. That group now has a name: They'll be called Beady Eye.
The Oasis website yesterday published a fisheye-lens photo of Beady Eye working in the studio, while also confirming that another former Oasis member, drummer Chris Sharrock, will be part of the group. Beady Eye have set their sights on releasing their debut album next year, and producer Steve Lillywhite (who recently worked on U2's No Line on the Horizon and 30 Seconds to Mars's This Is War) will be behind the boards.
While Gallagher focuses on the Beady Eye project, he also has other irons in the fire: He recently traveled to the Cannes Film Festival to promote a Beatles film project he's producing. But based on earlier comments, he'll be focusing on Beady Eye's album for the foreseeable future, eyeing to wrap up the record by June.
