Courtney Love Thinks Ryan Gosling or James McAvoy Could Play Kurt Cobain in Nirvana Movie

One of last week's big stories concerned a report from the British newspaper The Sun that claimed Courtney Love wanted Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson to play her deceased husband Kurt Cobain in a forthcoming biopic of the Nirvana frontman. Love's manager later smacked The Sun's story down, and now Love herself has weighed in on the debate.

On her Twitter account, Love wrote yesterday, "HEY I LIKE R PATZ HES JUST NOT RIGHT FOR KC!" She also spoke to The Canadian Press, suggesting that she would prefer Ryan Gosling or James McAvoy to play Cobain. In regards to Pattinson, Love said, "Isn't that so stupid, who would cast him? That's just wrong, no offense. I watched the Twilight stuff very, very recently and I get it, it resonates with the teenaged girl in me, I understand epic love of that nature; I write about it all the time. But isn't that silly?"

Love somewhat addressed another tidbit from The Sun's story, which quoted a source who claimed that Love "gets to decide the main aspects of the project including director, casting, screenplay and music." The Canadian Press's Michael Oliveira writes that Love "wants to approve casting and the script and is hoping a friend, film producer Trudie Styler, will act as her 'proxy' to ensure the movie is done right." According to Oliveira, Love indicated that she could deep-six the Universal project if Styler (who is Sting's wife) doesn't come on board.

Sadly, Oliveria's story doesn't cover one other tantalizing morsel from The Sun's piece, which is that she wants Scarlett Johansson to play her in the movie. Since Love has clear ideas about who should and should not play Cobain, undoubtedly she's given some thought to who should portray her.
