Saving Abel are in the midst of their "Class of 2009" tour, but a few of the upcoming shows will be scrapped due to illness. According to a press release, Saving Abel frontman Jared Weeks needs to "have an insulin pump inserted in to his body immediately" in response to a "nasty mix of diabetic shock and the flu" that put Weeks in the hospital and forced the cancellation of three mid-November shows. The band tried to resume the tour after Weeks got out of the hospital, but now the decision has been made to cancel all subsequent shows except for a December 18 gig in Nashville and a New Year's Eve show in Memphis.
Though the press release makes no mention of it, the assumption is that the singer's illness will not in any way stall the release of Saving Abel's sophomore album, which is expected in the first half of 2010. Speaking of the forthcoming album, another disappointment regarding these cancelled shows is that Saving Abel were planning on trying out new songs during this tour. But unless you have tickets for those two remaining Tennessee shows in December, it appears that you won't get a chance to catch the guys live for a little while.
