Ever since Noel Gallagher left Oasis back in August, he's talked about embarking on a solo career. But what was going to happen to Noel's brother Liam, the band's singer? Today Liam provided a little detail about his post-Oasis plans, which include a tour and an album.
NME reports that Liam appeared on the Italian radio station Radio Deejay and announced that he'd be back on the road "within a couple of months," adding that "I always miss singing songs. I miss the people."
Liam's enthusiasm for returning to touring shouldn't come as a shock. When Oasis called it quits, he told reporters that he hated when a tour would come to an end, hinting that it was Noel who was less keen about performing. But this Radio Deejay interview did contain one surprise: Liam's solo album will essentially be an Oasis record without Noel -- and without the Oasis name. He's currently writing material with his Oasis bandmates, but it sounds like it'll be billed as a Liam Gallagher project.
In other words, this sets the stage for next year when the Gallagher brothers will potentially have competing albums coming out. Without even having to think about it, I'd have to say I'm more interested in hearing Noel's record, but since Liam has contributed songs to recent Oasis albums -- including a couple pretty good ones on 2007's Dig Out Your Soul -- this might be his chance to prove himself.
So, I guess this means that Jay-Z/Liam Gallagher collaboration is never going to happen now, huh?
