Ever since Noel Gallagher split from Oasis at the end of August, the future of the band has been in doubt. But singer Liam Gallagher could find work with an unlikely collaborator: rapper Jay-Z.
Speaking with The Sun, Jay-Z said that a project between him and Liam might make sense. "Their music is tight and I think we could blend our styles well," he said. "When you have two artists like us in a room just throwing about ideas you come up with something brilliant fairly easily."
To further his case, Jigga mentioned Collision Course, the 2004 rap-rock remix project he did with Linkin Park that went platinum. "Nobody expected that to work but we made a massive success of it," he said. But is Jay's real motivation that he wants to continue his feud with Noel? You may remember that last year the former Oasis guitarist complained when Jay-Z was added to the bill of the Glastonbury festival, which has traditionally been a rock-centric music event. "If it ain't broke don't fix it," Noel said in April 2008. "If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance." That started a war of words between him and Jay that always seemed more amusing than truly contentious, but maybe the rapper has decided he wants to have the last laugh?
Whatever Jay's reasons for wanting to team up with Noel's brother, Liam has yet to respond to the offer.
