Nine Inch Nails Prepare Final U.S. Tour
Last month during their performance at Bonnaroo, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor told the crowd, “It just dawned on me that this is our last show ever in the United States,” reiterating comments he made back in February about retiring the NIN brand. But today comes word that Reznor has had a change of heart – somewhat.
On his band’s website, Reznor announced that Nine Inch Nails will be playing a handful of dates in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago starting near the end of August that will represent the group’s final U.S. appearances. “Upon reflection,” Reznor wrote, “the NIN/JA tour [which was done with Jane’s Addiction and Street Sweeper Social Club] felt like we had to rush through sets due to a limited allotted set length and many shows were in daylight – it just didn’t feel right to end NIN that way.”
Dates have yet to be announced, but Reznor has described these farewell dates as “informal affairs in medium to small venues with longer set-lists, possible special guests, cool openers and other surprises.” The tour kicks off August 22 – and when it’s over, that’s it for NIN’s American fans. Let’s hope Reznor sends Nine Inch Nails out to pasture in style.
Update on July 10: Nine Inch Nails have now announced dates and locations for the 10 shows in their farewell tour.
