Green Day are busy promoting their fine new album, 21st Century Breakdown, and as part of the publicity blitz they put in an appearance Saturday on the season finale of Saturday Night Live. They performed two Breakdown tracks, “Know Your Enemy” and “21 Guns,” staying largely faithful to the album versions of the songs.
What did you think of the performances? I thought both songs were solid but not spectacular. SNL has been criticized all season for having pretty crummy sound mixes for the show’s live acts, but Green Day didn’t seem as electric as they can be in concert. Maybe it was just an off night?
