Linkin Park Rock for a Cause
Going to concerts can be a lot of fun, but rarely do they serve a greater good for the world at large. But for the last two summers, Projekt Revolution has donated $1 of every ticket purchased to its annual rock and rap festival to Music for Relief, which bills itself as a “non-profit organization dedicated to providing aid to victims of natural disasters and the prevention of such disasters.” Why Music for Relief? Because beyond the fact that since its inception in 2005 the organization has helped areas ravaged by tsunamis and wildfires and highlighted environmental causes, the group is founded by Linkin Park, who, of course, also run Projekt Revolution.
Today, Music for Relief will receive a $25,000 donation from the Major League Baseball Authentic Collection and Champs Sports, who will present the monetary gift to Linkin Park rapper Mike Shinoda and bassist Davie Farrell in New York City in one of those gala ceremonies that's sure to feature an oversized check. Congrats, guys – now if we can all work to figure out how to lessen our carbon footprint when attending concerts, the better off we’ll all be.
